First I need to say as a Joomla site builder and one who uses all types of Joomla extensions, I love changelogs. They let me know what has been fixed, what new features have been added, and how often the developer is putting out updates. You can learn a lot about an extension from a good changelog.
sh404SEF has a great changelog, http://anything-digital.com/sh404sef/changelog.html It is very easy to find what is kept up to date, and you can tell the extension is well maintained. The only drawback is it can be a little difficult to find the changes made in the different versions.
The sh404SEF changelog has four versions (1, 2, 3, 4) all on the same page. If you want to find changes for any version than the most current, it requires scrolling through a very long page to find what you are looking for. Additionally, it is not readily available that all four versions are represented on this page.
Current Changelog Header
One suggestion / solution would be to add anchor tags to the page just before the changelog starts. There would be one anchor tag for each version of sh404SEF.
Proposed Changelog Header
By adding these anchor tags the user could
- See that all versions of sh404SEF are present
- Easily jump to the version they are interested
- Easily link to a specific version of sh404SEF
Just a thought to help improve the usability of the page. What would you do to improve the usability of the page?
